Just for Kids and Carly’s Club . . .Together We Can Make a Difference
This summer, Just for Kids is working together – kids, staff, host locations, and families – to make a difference through volunteerism. We’ve identified a unique organization, created by a child to help other children, for which we’d like to focus our efforts throughout the summer.
Carly’s Story
An excerpt from a letter written by Chuck and CaroleAnn Collard
On August 16, 2002 our beautiful adopted daughter Carly passed away after a three-year battle with brain cancer. She was amazingly courageous and fought so hard for her dignity and individuality. She never let cancer define who or what she was, and she never lost sight of her desire to live a cancer- free life.Regardless of the many obstacles she faced, Carly refused to give up hope and always had a positive attitude. Even through the most difficult rounds of treatment, she rarely complained, and continued to put others first. She will forever be an inspiration to our family, friends and members of this community.
Although only on this earth for a short time, Carly touched the lives of hundreds of people who we know...and thousands of people who we have never met. On March 5, 2000, just after her first round of treatment, Carly founded Carly's Club, to support both kids and cancer research. Carly tragically lost both of her birth parents to cancer prior to her own diagnosis at age 8. Her wish to help other kids, and her ability to make that wish a reality, was just one of the countless ways she made us so very proud as parents.
In just a few short years, Carly's Club has been successful way beyond what we could have ever imagined. Such success pays tribute to Carly and the many people she impacted during her life. Carly's Club has had the support of so many friends, WNY Businesses, community groups, and individuals just wanting to make a difference.
We can make a difference in Carly's honor with our efforts through Carly's Club and bring us to the day when parents and kids will no longer have to worry about this disease. Carly would be so proud.
The Mission
Carly’s Club is a not-for-profit organization committed to funding research initiatives to find a cure for childhood cancer. These initiatives will focus on education, diagnosis, and treatment. Carly’s Club is part of The Roswell Park Alliance Foundation at Roswell Park Cancer institute in Buffalo, New York. A portion of all proceeds will be allocated to fund support services to children and families who are confronted with childhood cancer. Our scientific advisory committee, consisting of leading pediatric specialists in the field of oncology and neurology, will meet to help determine what initiatives to pursue.

Toddlers (18mos-3yrs)
Toddlers will learn through hands on play activities that encourage them to explore and discover the world around them while making new friends. Busy minds and busy bodies!
Preschool (3-5yrs)
In the preschool program, kids learn about letters, colors, numbers and shapes. They solve problems and get along with others. They develop respect about families, cultures and neighborhoods. Teachers guide each child’s learning with a focus on kindergarten.
Great hours!The Just for Kids Early Childhood Center is designed for working families. The Center is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
